A Thousand Acres

(1997)Directed by Jocelyn Moorhouse105 min · RDrama, Family
“Best friends. Bitter rivals. Sisters.”

Ginny Cook Smith (Jessica Lange) and her sister Rose Cook Lewis (Michelle Pfeiffer) have spent their lives working their father's Iowa farm, and what they want is the land to be theirs. When Larry Cook (Jason Robards) abruptly decides to hand the whole thousand acres to his three daughters, the youngest, Caroline (Jennifer Jason Leigh), hesitates. Jocelyn Moorhouse films the flat, fertile fields with the same patience she gives the family at the kitchen table.
