A Time to Kill

Carl Lee Hailey (Samuel L. Jackson) is a Black man in a small Mississippi town whose ten-year-old daughter is brutally assaulted by two white racists. He shoots both men dead in the courthouse in front of witnesses. Jake Brigance (Matthew McConaughey), a young white lawyer, agrees to defend him, but the town divides along old lines of rage and fear. Schumacher follows the trial as it builds toward a reckoning neither side can stop.
