A Traveler's Needs

“When paths cross, souls discover each other.”

Nobody in Seoul can say quite what Iris (Isabelle Huppert) is doing there, or what qualifies her to teach French and English the way she does. Her lessons wander off into poetry, her students' histories, and how they feel about themselves, and over one day she meets four different people, including Wonju (Lee Hye-young). Hong Sang-soo films it in plain, unhurried takes, with long conversations left to run at their own pace.
