A Woman of Paris: A Drama of Fate

Marie St. Clair (Edna Purviance) believes her fiance Jean (Carl Miller), a young artist, has abandoned her, and she leaves home for Paris alone. A year later she lives there as the mistress of the wealthy Pierre Revel, until a chance meeting puts Jean in front of her again. Charlie Chaplin, who appears in the film only briefly, keeps Edna Purviance's face in close view, and the silence leaves it to her expression to answer him.
