A Year of the Quiet Sun

Emilia (Maja Komorowska) is a Polish refugee who has lost much in the war and now cares for her sick mother (Hanna Skarżanka). Norman (Scott Wilson), an American soldier stationed in Poland shortly after the war, falls in love with her, and both expect she will follow him to the U.S. once he is sent home. Krzysztof Zanussi sets the romance against one problem: there will be only one ticket.
