About a Boy

“Growing up has nothing to do with age.”

Will Freeman (Hugh Grant) invents a son so he can meet single mothers, since a man with no job, no kids and no plans would otherwise get nowhere with them. The lie runs into Marcus Brewer (Nicholas Hoult), a hopelessly geeky 12-year-old who needs a friend and decides Will is the man to teach him how to be cool. Paul and Chris Weitz build the film around the two of them, a grown man who dodges every responsibility and a boy who has never been allowed to be a kid.
