Accattone

Vittorio "Accattone" Cataldi (Franco Citti) lives off the women he works on the outskirts of Rome, until his prostitute is sent to prison and the money stops. Pier Paolo Pasolini, in his first film as a director, cast Citti and the other actors as they were, and the performances have the rough texture of the neighborhood itself. Accattone has no other trade, and the film shows plainly what a man like that has left to sell.
