Across the Universe

“All you need is love.”

Jude (Jim Sturgess) is a young dockworker in Liverpool who ships out for the United States to find the father he has never met. He falls for Lucy Carrigan (Evan Rachel Wood), whose brother Max (Joe Anderson) is headed toward Vietnam while she joins the anti-war movement at home. Julie Taymor tells their story entirely through Beatles songs, and the two keep reaching for each other as the country around them comes apart.
