“When it rains, it pours”

A country church in rural Denmark takes in parolees, and the newest is Adam (Ulrich Thomsen), a neo-Nazi sentenced to community service there. His host is Ivan (Mads Mikkelsen), a priest who answers every grim fact with cheerful, unshakable faith, and the two are set against each other from the first morning. Anders Thomas Jensen writes the dialogue deadpan, so the absurdity arrives in the flattest possible voice.
