“Innocence is a casualty of war.”

Chang-guk (Yang Dong-geun) is a young man in a Korean village near an American army base, shut out by his neighbors for being the son of a Korean mother and a Black American soldier. His mother (Pang Eun-jin) still writes letters to the father who left, and they keep coming back stamped with no address. Kim Ki-duk follows Chang-guk and Eun-ok (Ban Min-jeong), a schoolgirl with a damaged eye, as each becomes the only person the other can turn to.
