Adelheid

A manor stands empty after the war, and the German family who owned it has vanished, all but a daughter who now works there as a maid. Viktor Chotovický (Petr Čepek), a soldier sent to take charge of the house, finds himself drawn to Adelheid Heidenmannová (Emma Černá). František Vláčil sets a man's love against his conscience, and every day he stays, the cost to him and to her grows heavier.
