Admiral

“Wars are fought by many. History is made by few...”

Michiel de Ruyter (Frank Lammers) wants to protect the young Dutch republic, though England, France and Germany are closing in on it and civil war threatens from within. Roel Reiné follows the admiral as the country turns to him to command the fleet, with Rutger Hauer as Maarten Tromp and Charles Dance as King Charles II. Underneath the battles is a question the film treats plainly: what a man gives up of his own life when his country needs him at sea.
