Aferim!

In Wallachia in the early 19th century, a nobleman hires the policeman Costandin (Teodor Corban) to track down a Gypsy slave who ran off after an affair with his wife. Costandin sets out on horseback with his son Ioniță (Mihai Comănoiu), and Radu Jude films their ride in black and white. Costandin talks the whole way, handing his son proverbs and prejudices as if they were maps.
