Leon (Thomas Schubert) is a writer who takes himself very seriously, and he has come to the Baltic coast with his friend Felix (Langston Uibel) to finish his second novel. The holiday house is already occupied by Nadja (Paula Beer), a carefree young woman who keeps pushing at Leon's guardedness. Christian Petzold sets the four of them in one house and shows how hard it is for someone so wrapped up in himself to see the people around him.
