Kate (Portia Doubleday) wants to design for the great couture houses, but none of them will hire the daughter of Lee Kassell (Chris Noth), a retail guru who sells clothes "inspired" by the very designers she admires. So she takes a job in the family business, working alongside her stepmother Elsie (Lauren Holly) and two stepsisters, with a guy from the shoe department on her side.
