After the Rehearsal
Henrik Vogler (Erland Josephson) is a theater director who stays on in the empty stage after rehearsal, wanting only a little quiet to think through his new production of Strindberg's A Dream Play. Ingmar Bergman has Anna Egerman (Lena Olin) come back for a bracelet she may have left behind, then talk about the mother she hated, an alcoholic actress who was Vogler's lover. Between the two of them stands Rakel (Ingrid Thulin), who is dead and still in the room.
