Aguirre, the Wrath of God

“A breathtaking journey into the heart of darkness.”

In the decades after the fall of the Inca Empire, a Spanish expedition leaves the mountains of Peru and sets out down the Amazon in search of El Dorado. Don Lope de Aguirre (Klaus Kinski) rides with the party, and as the river grows harder, Werner Herzog's men begin to doubt whether the quest leads to riches or to death. Kinski stands on a raft in his armor, the river moving past him, the lost city still nowhere in sight.
