“Bound By Desire. Torn Apart By War.”

Berlin, 1943: the Allies bomb the city at night, and the Gestapo works through it by day, clearing out its Jews. Felice Schragenheim (Maria Schrader), a Jewish woman moving through the underground, begins an affair with Lilly Wust (Juliane Köhler), a mother of four held up as a model of Nazi womanhood. Max Färberböck follows Lilly as she lets a stranger into her marriage, her home and her carefully ordered life.
