“An American Cavalcade!”

Roger Grant (Tyrone Power) walks away from a classical violin career and puts together a jazz band, leaving his family and his teacher stunned. Henry King follows the group from its first gigs into the war years, with Stella Kirby (Alice Faye) singing out front and Charlie Dwyer (Don Ameche) close by. Roger loves Stella, but he can't stand the thought of losing her, so he keeps holding her back.
