Alice in the Cities
Philip Winter (Rüdiger Vogler), a German journalist, has spent weeks in America taking Polaroids and writing nothing, and now he only wants to get home. At the airline desk he meets a German woman and her nine-year-old daughter Alice (Yella Rottländer), stuck in the same line, and the mother asks him to mind the girl for a little while. Wim Wenders and cinematographer Robby Müller shoot it in black and white, with long stretches where nobody speaks.
