Alice in Wonderland
Alice (Viola Savoy) drifts off at a picnic with her sister and wakes inside a dream, where animals talk and playing cards walk on their own legs. W.W. Young adapted Lewis Carroll's 1865 novel for the silent screen in 1915, with Herbert Rice as the White Rabbit and William Tilden as the Mad Hatter. Alice follows the creatures deeper in, a girl who can only watch and wonder, since no one in this world speaks to her out loud.
