Alice or the Last Escapade

On a dark, rainy night, Alice Caroll (Sylvia Kristel) decides she can't stand her husband another minute and drives away from him. An unseen blow smashes her windshield, and she takes shelter in an old mansion where the owner, Henri Vergennes (Charles Vanel), welcomes her warmly. Claude Chabrol sets her against a household that is kind to her face, and every attempt she makes to leave turns her back toward the house.
