All Fired Up

(1982)Directed by Jean-Paul Rappeneau105 minComedy, Drama

Victor Valance (Yves Montand) is a gambler who has spent years away from his family, working for shady casino operators abroad. He comes back to Paris broke, and his eye lands on his eldest daughter Pauline (Isabelle Adjani), who now holds the household together and has a job at the Ministry of Finance. Rappeneau's comedy is about what a daughter owes a father who was never there, and how little that debt has to do with whether he deserves it.
