All Quiet on the Western Front

In 1917, the third year of the First World War, Paul Bäumer (Felix Kammerer) and his school friends sign up for the German army, full of talk about glory and the Fatherland. Edward Berger sends them to the Western Front, where Stanislaus "Kat" Katczinsky (Albrecht Schuch) takes the new boys in and the war turns out to be nothing like the speeches. Paul is still a teenager, and the film follows what the trenches begin to do to him.
