All the Pretty Horses

“Some passions can never be tamed.”

Nobody explains why a boy of sixteen would ride into Mexico with a friend and almost nothing else, except that the Texas ranch where John Grady (Matt Damon) grew up has been sold out from under him in 1949. He and Rawlins (Henry Thomas) cross the border looking for work with horses, and the younger Blevins (Lucas Black) falls in beside them. Billy Bob Thornton directs it as a slow western, giving the open country more room than the people crossing it.
