Almayer's Folly

Almayer (Stanislas Merhar), a European merchant in a remote Malaysian village, is sure there is treasure out there somewhere, and he cannot stop looking for it. Chantal Akerman follows him through the heat of the 1950s, with Capt. Lingard (Marc Barbé) and his daughter Nina (Aurora Marion) close by. Everything he wants is for her future, and the wanting slowly turns into the thing that eats him.
