Firefighter Kim Ja-hong (Cha Tae-hyun) dies unexpectedly and is met by three guardians, led by Gang-rim (Ha Jung-woo), who escort him into the afterlife. To be reincarnated, he must pass seven trials over 49 days and prove he was innocent in his human life, with the guardians arguing his case at each one. Kim Yong-hwa builds those trials around the Ten Kings of Hell, and one verdict from King Yeomra (Lee Jung-jae) can end Ja-hong's chance.
