Alpha

“Love leaves a mark.”

Alpha (Mélissa Boros) is thirteen and living with her single mother (Golshifteh Farahani) when she comes home from school with a tattoo on her arm. Her mother, a nurse, fears the worst: a new bloodborne disease has been spreading, and a needle is how it travels. Julia Ducournau makes a film about how fear of a body can arrive before any proof, and how it reaches a family first.
