Amal

Amal (Lubna Azabal), a high school literature teacher in Brussels, assigns her students the poetry of Abu Nuwas, an eighth-century Arab writer. The choice sets off a chain reaction through the school and neighborhood: parents object, administrators pressure her, colleagues distance themselves. What begins as a lesson in literature becomes a test of whether a teacher can stand by what she believes to be worth teaching.
