Amélie Poulain (Audrey Tautou) is a shy waitress at a small café in Montmartre, and she has stumbled onto a talent for quietly fixing other people's lives. She plays matchmaker and guardian angel to the neighbors around her, all while she stays alone. Jeunet fills Paris with saturated reds and greens and little invented rituals, so even a corner street feels slightly staged.
