American Heart

Jack (Jeff Bridges) gets out of prison wanting a clean start, a steady job and a room of his own in Seattle. Then his teenage son Nick (Edward Furlong), whom he barely knows, tracks him down and moves in. Martin Bell watches the two of them learn to share a space, Jack with his ex-con's stiff caution, Nick with his hands jammed in his pockets.
