American Pastoral

“A radically ordinary story.”

Nobody in Swede Levov's family can say what went wrong with Merry (Dakota Fanning), the daughter he raised inside a comfortable life in postwar America. Ewan McGregor, who also directs, plays Swede opposite Jennifer Connelly as his wife Dawn, with David Strathairn's Nathan Zuckerman telling the story. As Merry's new political loyalties pull her away, everything Swede has built for his family starts to come apart.
