American Pop

“All those years, all those dreams, all those sons... one of them is going to be a star.”

How does a Russian Jewish family's story end up running in step with a century of American music? Ralph Bakshi follows four generations of Belinskys, each son carrying a different musical gift into a new decade, from Zalmie to Tony Belinsky (Ron Thompson) and beyond. The songs change with the years, and so does what each father hands down to his boy, and what the boy takes.
