“Life's best adventures are journeys of the heart.”

Muna Farah (Nisreen Faour), a divorced Palestinian woman, wants a better life for her son Fadi (Melkar Muallem), so she moves them to rural Illinois to live with her sister Raghda (Hiam Abbass). They arrive just as America's war in Iraq turns the neighbors against anyone who looks like the enemy. Cherien Dabis lets Muna take whatever job comes, and she keeps going, because stopping would mean the whole move was for nothing.
