An Alan Smithee Film: Burn, Hollywood, Burn

“The Movie Hollywood Doesn't Want You to See.”

The reels of a big-budget action film have vanished, and the only person who could have taken them is its director, Alan Smithee (Eric Idle), a man whose name is the one Hollywood hands to directors who disown their work. Arthur Hiller follows Smithee on the run with the negatives while producer James Edmunds (Ryan O'Neal) and a crew in a frenzy try to track him down. Under the jokes sits a plain question of who owns a film once the money is spent.
