An Inn in Tokyo

Kihachi (Takeshi Sakamoto) is out of work in Depression-era Tokyo and walks the industrial flatlands with his two young sons, looking for a job and a place to sleep. He runs into an old friend, then falls in with Otaka (Yoshiko Okada), a woman in the same fix with her daughter. Yasujirō Ozu shot it silent, and what stays in view is the father and his boys on the road.
