An Inspector Calls

“Is he real... or the creature of conscience?”

At a family dinner in the Birling house, the evening is interrupted when Inspector Poole (Alastair Sim) arrives with news that a girl known to everyone at the table has died in suspicious circumstances. Arthur Birling (Arthur Young) and his wife Sybil (Olga Lindo) answer politely at first, and each of them turns out to have a connection to her. Guy Hamilton, working from J.B. Priestley's play, keeps the story inside the one house.
