Anastasia

(1956)Directed by Anatole Litvak105 minDrama, Romance
“The most amazing conspiracy the world has ever known... and love as it never happened to a man and woman before!”

Anna Koreff (Ingrid Bergman) is a destitute young woman in Paris, rescued from a suicide attempt by a group of Russian exiles who see in her a way to claim ten million pounds. General Bounine (Yul Brynner) takes charge of coaching her to pass as Anastasia, the Tsar's daughter who may have survived the murders of 1918. Anatole Litvak lets the lessons run long, and somewhere between the drilling and the correcting, Bounine starts to look at her differently.
