Anatahan

Twelve Japanese seamen reach an abandoned island in June 1944, and the war that put them there never sends anyone to collect them. They live on Anatahan for seven years, and among them is Keiko (Akemi Negishi), the only woman. Josef von Sternberg, adapting Michiro Maruyama's account of his own years there, shows men with one woman, a small supply of food, and no word on when the fighting ended.
