Anatomy of a Murder

In a small Michigan town, Paul Biegler (James Stewart) is a semi-retired lawyer who would sooner fish than argue a case. Then Army Lt. Frederick Manion (Ben Gazzara) is charged with killing a local innkeeper, saying the man raped his wife, Laura (Lee Remick), and Biegler agrees to defend him. Otto Preminger keeps the story inside the courtroom, where Biegler has to prove what he believes about a client he is not sure of.
