And the Ship Sails On

“One of the world's great directors invites you to join him on a voyage...”

Orlando (Freddie Jones), a journalist, narrates the voyage of a luxury liner leaving Naples in 1914, crowded with the friends and admirers of the dead soprano Edmea Tetua. They carry her ashes to Erimo, the island where she was born. Fellini fills the decks with singers, aristocrats and Serbian refugees who join them, though an Austrian flagship now waits on the same sea, and war is closing in on the ship.
