Angelique: The Road to Versailles

Angélique de Peyrac (Michèle Mercier) is cornered in the streets of Paris, and the man who gets her out is Calembredaine (Giuliano Gemma), the king of the cutthroats. Bernard Borderie fills the sequel with candlelit salons, fine fabrics and a crowd of admirers, including the poet Claude le Petit (Jean-Louis Trintignant). Once her protector is gone, Angélique takes up business and a string of love affairs, and she runs both on her own terms.
