“You don't know the real story.”

Sister Charlotte (Stephanie Sigman) loads a group of girls from a shuttered orphanage into a farmhouse offered by Samuel Mullins (Anthony LaPaglia), a doll maker whose own daughter died years earlier. David F. Sandberg keeps the camera in the narrow hallways, where Janice (Talitha Eliana Bateman) and Linda (Lulu Wilson) share a room. Esther Mullins (Miranda Otto) stays shut away, and the girls have only one rule to keep: stay out of the locked room.
