Anticipation of the Night

(1958)Directed by Stan Brakhage42 min

A man we never see except as a shadow moves through a day, looking out at the world through his own eyes. Stan Brakhage films from inside that single point of view, with no cast and no story to hold onto, only what the man is looking at and how badly he wants to reach it. It is the film where Brakhage first found the lyrical style of his later work, and the man at its center stays alone with his looking.

No cast on record.
