Antwone Fisher

“Antwone Fisher is at war... with himself.”

After a fight on board, the Navy sends Antwone Fisher (Derek Luke), a sailor with a violent temper, to see the psychiatrist Dr. Jerome Davenport (Denzel Washington). Antwone sits through the sessions saying nothing, and the doctor waits him out, though what the young man is holding back goes all the way to his boyhood. Washington, directing for the first time, keeps the camera on the two men in the room and lets the silences run long.
