In a sprawling underground ant colony, Z-4195 (voice: Woody Allen) is a neurotic worker ant who questions the rigid order around him. He falls for Princess Bala (voice: Sharon Stone), a royal who longs to escape the hive, and the two set off to find the legendary Insectopia. In the end Z stands alone on a precipice, watching the world stretch endlessly before him.
