“They made him a promise. He made them a family.”

Rudy Donatello (Alan Cumming) lip-syncs in a club in late-1970s California and goes home to a small apartment, and when the teenager next door, Marco (Isaac Leyva), is left on his own, he can't leave him there. With his partner Paul Fliger (Garret Dillahunt), a lawyer, he takes Marco in and gives him a bedroom and a family. Travis Fine follows the two men as officials start asking who they are to him, and Rudy keeps saying they are all he has.
