Apollo 10½: A Space Age Childhood

“A coming of age story.... the way only Richard Linklater could tell it.”

Stan (Milo Coy) is a fourth-grader in 1969 Houston, a kid who loves the space program because his neighbors and his father work for it. An older Stan (Jack Black) narrates the year from memory, and NASA's secret plan to send a boy to the moon sits right beside the school days and family dinners. Richard Linklater animates his own childhood in rotoscoped color, tracing live-action footage into a look that feels half-remembered.
