Appaloosa

“Feelings get you killed.”

Virgil Cole (Ed Harris) and Everett Hitch (Viggo Mortensen) are friends who hire out as lawmen, and the town of Appaloosa pays them to take back a place held by the rancher Randall Bragg (Jeremy Irons). Ed Harris, directing himself, gives the pair an easy, finished-sentence way of talking. Then a young widow, Allie (Renée Zellweger), steps off the train, and the friendship and the job both start to carry weight.
