Shirin (Desiree Akhavan) is a Persian American woman in Brooklyn, and she can't say how her life with her girlfriend Maxine (Rebecca Henderson) came apart. She is supposed to be a good daughter to her Iranian family, a good bisexual in her new circle, a good Brooklynite, and she keeps getting each one wrong. Akhavan directs and stars in her first feature, and Shirin goes on trying to put herself back together anyway.
